Multiservice LAN and WAN Networking
- Multiple LAN and WAN network interfaces
- End-to-end Quality of Service features
- WAN optimization capabilities
- Multiprotocol routing options
The InstantOffice system, a complete voice and data communications
solution, delivers full-featured LAN and WAN connectivity for small
to medium-sized businesses and branch offices. With its robust routing
capabilities, this Integrated Communications Platform provides connectivity
for all of today's standard data protocols and networking media.
Data networking with the InstantOffice system offers 10/100 Ethernet
for high-performance LANs, which can be connected to the corporate
backbone via high-speed WAN links. Routing can occur over a wide variety
of WAN connections, including digital leased lines (T1 and DDS), frame
relay, and ISDN PRI. By leveraging the system's remote access services,
your business can extend its networks securely and seamlessly through
phone lines to connect mobile users and telecommuters to network resources.
Corporate-class networking for small offices
The system is designed to provide corporate-class performance at a
small office price. Network access charges can be reduced by integrating
voice and data traffic over the same WAN access circuit using the
built-in T1 multiplexer. Further savings can be realized by carrying
voice traffic over the data network using the integrated voice over
IP gateway with multiservice network capabilities. Site-to-site VPN
or remote access VPN connections are enabled using the optional VPN
services.
For added flexibility, two routing options are available for the InstantOffice
system:
- The InstantOffice Multiprotocol Router, based on the Microsoft
NT Routing and Remote Access service (RRAS), provides standards-based
LAN and WAN routing optimized for branch offices. The InstantOffice
system extends the base RRAS elements with value-added services
such as frame relay, WAN prioritization, and multiservice WAN
interfaces, including SDSL and integrated digital T1 circuits.
- The InstantOffice 1600-Router Card with Cisco IOS® Technologies
offers a complete set of advanced security and encryption features;
end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) support for data, voice, and
multimedia applications; and WAN optimization capabilities. This
card delivers the sophisticated routing functionality provided
by Cisco IOS Technologies, as well as full interoperability with
other Cisco® equipment and proprietary protocols.
Support for multiservice applications
Multiservice applications-including IP telephony, voice/data integration,
and desktop videoconferencingrequire end-to-end QoS capabilities
such as guaranteed bandwidth and delay contracts. The InstantOffice
system provides features such as Resource reservation Protocol (RSVP),
diff-serv, IP Multicast, and Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ) to support
this new class of interactive, time-sensitive applications.
